Highlights from Blue Ant’s Kids & Family slate:
Tralala (52 × 7’) This delightful preschool series is a Canada/New Zealand international co-production with shared animation between Blue Ant Studios and Stretchy for CBC and Sky NZ. Created, written and directed by Harry Sinclair (Kiri and Lou), the series reflects Sinclair’s whimsical style and creativity. Musically named, Tralala is an inventive seven-year-old frog who lives an idyllic life with her dad, Sid, in their cozy blue country cottage, where commonplace domestic events unfurl into whimsical, imaginative adventures and singalongs. For Sid and Tralala’s mother, co-parenting is just an easy and normal part of life. As an only child, Tralala has created a fantastic inner world with close friends she has found in the garden, in her attic, and even under the sofa, including Batty, a snappily dressed bat, Pasilio, a shy tree in her garden, and Hildegard, an eccentric talking hill where Tralala loves to play.
Flower & Flour (39 x 7’) Co-produced by Cheeky Little Media and Sinking Ship Entertainment for ABC Australia, TVOkids, Radio-Canada and Knowledge Kids, this delightful bridge series for four- to seven-year-olds follows Flower, a curious and big-hearted seven-year-old who lives above her family’s bustling dumpling restaurant. By her side is Flour, a mischievous cat she imagined from a bag of flour after wishing for a pet. Together, the pair turn everyday moments into joyous chaos and unexpected adventures throughout their vibrant multicultural neighbourhood. Created by Dan Mansour (Spongo, Fuzz & Jalapena), the series draws on his family’s lived experiences and celebrates friendship, imagination, kindness and the joy of discovering the world close to home.
Little Margo Stories (50 x 3’ + specials) Produced by Lightcatcher Media, this gentle 3D-animated preschool series follows Margo, a curious little mole who finds wonder in the natural world around her. Each short centres on a small but meaningful discovery, from new friendships to the changing seasons, inviting young viewers into a calm, beautifully crafted world filled with curiosity, play and quiet adventure. Filled with imagination and gentle humour, Margo’s adventures encourage children to explore, create and play while introducing social-emotional skills such as empathy, cooperation, resilience and problem-solving.
BeddyByes (52 x 11) Produced by JAM Media for BBC’s Cbeebies and RTÉ, this gentle preschool series invites audiences to join best friends MeMo and BaBa as they travel across the remarkable Planet BeddyByes, meeting new and familiar faces on their mindful and soothing journey to bedtime. Blending gentle storytelling, soothing visuals, and a comforting daily routine, this preschool animated series helps young viewers wind down from active playtime to bedtime while supporting healthy sleep habits.
The Day You Begin (1 x 45’) Produced by Atomic Cartoons, a Blue Ant Studios company, for PBS, an animated special about the first day of school, where four imaginative kids feel like they don’t belong until they learn that everyone has a unique story to share. The Day You Begin is a journey of self-acceptance, courage, and the magic that comes when we connect with others. Bursting with color, laughs, and compassion, this animated adaptation brings Jacqueline Woodson’s award-winning New York Times bestseller to life, reminding kids that every voice matters and every difference is a strength.
BooSnoo! Season 4 (25 x 7’) Produced by Visionality Media and Mackinnon & Saunders for Sky Kids, this colourful, non-dialogue series is carving out a new niche for slow and calming content that can help many different audiences chill out. Using a mix of animation, live action and stop motion, BooSnoo! tracks a little red ball’s journey through a whole series of elaborate obstacle courses. BooSnoo! was born out of a need for quiet programming that appeals to children with autism, with features including a predictable episode format and the ball’s easy-to-follow pathways.
All-Round Champion Season 7 (10 x 60’) Produced by Blue Ant Studios for BYUtv and TVOkids, with ITV joining Season 7 as a financing partner, the new installment expands the competition to include a selection of UK athletes for the first time. Nine elite athletes must confront sports they’ve admired from afar but never dared to attempt, including baseball, basketball, flag football, latin dance, muay thai, wakeboarding, and downhill mountain biking. Season 7’s roster of guest sport stars pushes the coaching to a new level. Darrell “Housh” Doucette, Julie and Amber Kitchen, Jamaal Magloire, and Cecil Fielder bring pedigree, real‑world toughness and world-class mentorship. The season culminates in a brand new finale format that throws the athletes into a multi‑sport, tournament-style showdown engineered to test everything they’ve learned.
Old Enough! Season 3 (8 x 30’) Produced by Blue Ant Studios for TVO and based on Nippon TV’s long-running Japanese hit format, the third season of this endearing series follows children aged three to six as they experience their first taste of independence, venturing out on their own to complete everyday errands for their parents. Simple tasks become funny, unpredictable and heartwarming adventures as the newly empowered youngsters navigate the world, and their anxious parents struggle to let go. Comic and improv legend Colin Mochrie (Whose Line Is It Anyway?) returns as narrator, bringing out the children’s heart and humour through every high and low.
